After this week’s guest lecture, one quote, in particular, stood out to me. Near the end of the presentation, Martin said:
“So, it seems that there is much work in knowing ourselves, and maybe all that can be asked of us, for now, is that we remain open to forming new perspectives, values and possibilities while remaining as content and authentic within ourselves as possible. But that also ultimately, maybe it’s just ok to be only human. “
This stood out to me, the main part I want to look at is “open to forming new perspectives, values and possibilities”. We are all constantly evolving as designers and individuals, picking up and learning new things as we go.
I love the work by The Typographic Circle as it’s a culmination of incredible talent. Type designers from all around the world come together to create some amazing pieces. The range of work produced is breathtaking and it really makes you want to collect them all. To collect the knowledge and expertise of all of these designers. The varied amount of styles and approaches are refreshing in this trend heavy world. The fact that you can see each designer’s individual style and their sense of self leaves me excited to work on my own.
